The best value I've found., February 9, 2011
By cigggaweed
Be advised that this is a 1.8TB drive instead of the 2TB that was listed. It's still the best value I've found.
It runs fast, but it does get a bit hot. I would recommend this product.

Just plug it in and you are ready to go. I transferred all my music and pictures on to it with no problem. I recommend the product.

Great Drive For The Price, February 9, 2011
By Lord Tyranus
So far it's working good and I expect it to go on for long, I had a WD drive before this one and it's still working. It's a good product and I like that it didn't came loaded with bloatware software like other drives, the only thing I kind of dislike is the dependency of the drive for an outlet which is understandable because most drives of comparable storage in the market still rely on AC

very easy to use for Macs, great once set up, February 9, 2011
By JP (NJ)
100% compatible with macs. Just use the "disk utility" app to set it up.

Works great partitioned. I set up 1/4 of it to use with mac's "time machine" back up program, and use the remaining 3/4 for storage of media, pictures, music, etc. It's amazing how the partitioning essentially creates 2 separate external hard drives!

Plenty of storage Now!, February 8, 2011
By Weatherwiser (Cedar Brook, NJ United States)
I purchased this to backup my laptop hardrive because I had many pictures from my camera and a lot of software on my hardrive. This WD hard drive had many positive reviews in here, and other places and you can't beat the price for 2 TBs of storage nowadays. I can't imagine ever needing more space, at least for many, many years. First thing I did was backup my entire laptop hardrive. I think it took a couple of hours and just let it run all night. I've been putting off backing up my computer for over a year now. It's comforting knowing I'm protected if my computer ever crashes, which has happned in the past and especially with plenty of pictures of my grandkids. It's AC powered, but who cares when you use this at home just for backup purposes.

Western Digital 2 TB USB 2.0 external hard drive, February 8, 2011
By John T Kennelly
I've only had this a couple of weeks, but I've been very pleased with it. It makes no noise at all, runs totally cool, compact size. I couldn't be more happy.

Simple and easy to use, February 8, 2011
By Seahorse "Kay" (Houston)
I am a backup freak! That being said I wanted a simple easy to use external hard drive that did not include non-removable proprietary software...I prefer using Windows Explorer for copying. The drive does exactly what it says it will do, I plugged it in and began copying files to it without a hitch. It is deadly quiet, light-weight, and attractively packaged. The only complaint I have is that there is no on/off switch and I hate dealing with the "Windows cannot stop the drive at this time..." message when trying to stop / eject it. Eventually I end up just unplugging it while it is asleep. I have two other WD external backup drives and both have on / off switches...this one should too. Bottom line is that it is an excellent drive that does just what it says it will do without a lot of hassle. Buy it!

So Far So Good, February 8, 2011
By L. Channels "scifi lover" (Los Angeles)
I've only had this item for a month but so far so good. No problems and it worked right out of the box without any fuss. I've put ALOT of videos and pictures on it and still have lots of space. I haven't used it for extended periods of time so I haven't had any problems with the unit overheating. I think this is definitely worth the money.
